Irises
I called Taliesin’s Godfather, Cedar, and told him my
dream. “I’m already in your driveway . Grab the rain-
bow scarves, let’s go,” he said. I hopped in his car, we
were on our way to an Iris Garden party with our close
friends who had attended Taliesin’s cremation.
After admiring the Irises we returned to the garden
chalet. To our surprise, there standing on the porch
was Mathew, the monk who had also attended the cre-
mation two weeks prior in Portland. I told him Talies-
in’s words and asked, “What is this Vajrasattva stupa?”
“I can help you with that,” he replied. Off we went to
the Buddhist Monastery a half a mile down the road
for a spontaneous ceremony.
Irises and rainbows both represent a bridge between
Heaven and Earth. Interestingly, Taliesin’s younger sis-
ter had just tattooed an Iris over her heart a month
prior.
