Tilie’s Team
Taliesin skipped the fifth grade - he was 11 when he
joined the travel gold soccer and basketball teams-
making him the youngest player. The basketball team,
was called Tilie’s team because he shot more than half
of the baskets for his team.
One year, Taliesin’s older brother took him to see a Gi-
ant’s game in San Francisco. He came home to his Lit-
tle League team beaming - The bases were loaded, as
he got up to bat. He hit the ball farther than the eye
could see and everyone ran home. A grand slam! The
coach came to Taliesin and said, “it’s downhill from
here, son.”
Taliesin was the only high school freshman to win a
letter at Robert Louis Stevenson School, in California -
the school is perched on Monterey Bay. He took sailing
and won every sailing competition; therefore, earning
a letter “S” for Stevenson.
